I bought this jacket & the M Edge Light for my silver Sony Pocket Reader. It's great fit, sturdy, with good construction. The Jacket has two pockets: 1 zipper pocket in the front that can hold the USB cord or the Light. The back pocket is a light tight & would best serve as a pocket for folded paper. This is also a "slot" for the base for the light.

I was given the Ebookman 900 for Christmas, 2008. After 6 months, it quit on me. I emailed Franklin and was informed that Extacto was their distibutor. When I contacted Extacto, I was offered an upgrade to EBM 911 for an additional 85.00 which I paid. I received the new reader and everything was fine until September,2009 when I tried to download 2 titles. This particular model comes with the cover AND the A/C Adapter - which is why the price is a bit higher, but it is a great option. The 600 comes with a little clutch bag instead of a cover, and most of us have discovered that a cover is necessary. It not only protects the screen, but it is the best way to clip on a light if you are reading in a dark location.

Since the Sony comes with a USB connector that also charges it, some do not feel the A/C adapter is necessary, but it was my first purchase after I bought the Sony! I plug it in at night (just like I do my cell-phone and other necessary items) and it is always fresh to read in the morning. The A/C adapter is also essential when I am traveling, since I do not always have my laptop available to charge it. While the Sony has 7,000 page turns on the battery, I read in large print, meaning I turn the pages quite frequently, and can't go more than 2-3 days without a charge.

If you prefer to purchase a cover and charger separately, there is actually no savings to the package deal. However, if you are purchasing this as a gift, including everything as a package is a very nice idea.

I have been following the e-book readers for some time, and I wanted several things for me to "jump on the bandwagon."

1) I have a number of PDF reference books, so a Reader needs to handle these well. Since my books are text, these reflow well on the Sony.

2) Because I will use (and now am using) the Reader for reference books, it was important that I be able to access my notes directly from my computer to use in other documents. I actually began using the software on my desktop several months before I purchased the 600, and was pleased with its capabilities.

3) I enjoy the free epub books from my library. The Sony accesses these easily. There are also a number of locations besides Sony selling the epub or Adobe digital books (usable by the Sony Touch) giving me more choice in my decision.

4) The Touch handles my regular documents well - as a public speaker, I love having my speeches available to study on the reader, without having to print them out!

But for those looking for the points I already love (thus the 5 stars)
1) I love having the touch turn capability, just a brush of my thumb!
2) I enjoy the sideways and zoom features for PDFs that you want to keep "standard"
3) After only a couple of minutes, I forgot I was even using a reader and I got involved in the book.

*** I live in an isolated area - so neither Whispernet for the Kindle nor the upcoming 3G connection on the more expensive Daily model would be helpful - I'm just as happy to order my books "in advance" and carry them with me.

Some people have mentioned the glare - since my previous reading was on my laptop - this isn't an issue for me. I keep my lighting at my side, and it is not a problem at all. It is more noticeable in a dark room with a single light source. My favorite reading location is outdoors.

Another issue I have encountered isn't with the reader - but with the interaction between Windows and the software. The hardcover version of this book is beautifully put together, with it's mouse-torn pages and wonderful illustrations. Unfortunately, the story did not live up to it's binding. "Despereaux" follows the lives of a handful of characters who, mostly through no choice of their own, live with unfortunate circumstances. Throughout the story, the characters are beaten down even more, mentally and/or physically. It's not until the last few pages that the author attempts to resolve the issues, but at that point the reader has been bombarded with so much negativity that the point of the story is lost, and it's hard to feel any satisfaction from the ending.

I can understand what the author was trying to do - the whole light verses dark theme - but I feel it was poorly executed. Perhaps she was trying to relate to too many real-life situations her readers might be going through - illness, physical differences, abuse, abandonment, stereotypes, racism, perfidiousness (the author's favorite), etc - but I trust that young readers can empathize and relate without having each situation explicitly represented. Perhaps she could have cut back a few and achieve the light and dark balance she was trying to attain.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the type of person that wants a candy-coated happy ending in all my stories, in fact I'm a sucker for a good tragedy. I'm not the type of person that thinks we should shield children from the realities of real-life - the unfounded hatred and violence, and unfortunate situations, that occurs. I am, however, a person born with a rare syndrome and have had health challenges my whole life, and also struggled with looking 'different' because of it - I think I know a thing or two about finding light in life. I ordered this jacket for my Kindle a few hours after I opened the device on Christmas Day. I looked at a number of jackets before settling on this one, and now that I've been using it for a week or two, I can honestly say that I love it!

I have the new generation Kindle for about a year, now. I love the way it reads, and I have never had so much fun reading before. Just when I thought my new Kindle was perfect... along comes this very clever and convenient accessory to make it even better........ I'll keep this short because there isn't very much to say.

PROS:
1. When I drop my kindle this keeps it safe and gives it a soft landing.

2. I love holding it and pushing my fingers into the memory foam

3. I love the pattern on the outside. I'm 24 and I wanted it to be cool and it achieves that.

4. I love that the pocket is on the outside. Some are on the inside and I hear whatever you put in the inside pocket scratches screens...

5. It zips nicely with no trouble

CONS:

1. THE zipper pulls are TOO heavy! There are FOUR of them! I had to take two of them off and they are STILL too heavy. I dont want to take the other two off because they are beautiful. I think I must though...they are super loud.

2. The inside of the pocket isn't lined with anything...you open it up and the flap is lined but the part you lay stuff on and zip the flap over is just the outside of the case. The outside is made out of ripstop nylon!

3. when you open up the main on the right flap in the middle next to the zipper is a tag...that DROVE me NUTS! I cut it off...fixed. It would flap and snap against the side of my kindle when I'd shift it so the tag would be over the right side of the kindle and I'd try to change pages and it would snap back into place under the kindle and ...it drove me nuts lol

Renova is one of the main "pattern" ad's on the outside and this is a REAL skin care AD which I think is hilarious. Someone sitting next to you wouldn't be able to read the ad but I was reading all of them and decided to look it up lol

I am not a gadget person but this device has me hooked. I chose the SOny despite husbands objection since I didnt get top of the line. LOL. But I wanted something basic like a book and didnt need all the frills. Not to mention I wanted to see if I liked it and would use it before plunking down money. I did a lot of research and decided this was the way to go versus the kindle that is woefully lacking in diversity as far as shopping for books. I have downloaded SIX free books from the sony book store, and one was a popular book for $2.99. I also went on my public library and looked at a few books. Google I havent tried yet but how appealing to have millions of books available for FREE. Yes, I cant wirelessly download books, which with my luck, I'd screw up the download, rare weather phenomena would occur to mess up the download or Amazon would hide it or delete it. Ha ha ha... I prefer the old fashion way.

One thing I did notice was when I put software on imac, it ran kind of choppy, not seamless. Then I put software on my netbook and it ran flawlessly. But when I tried imac again, it wouldnt recognize my reader. So think twice if you really want it on the imac. I am sure I can purge and try it again, or rather tech savvy husband can do it, but since it ran so nice on the netbook, I'll just keep it that way.

I love the pink, I loved the clutch. Not sure if I will read the four free books on there, but in case of dire boredom, maybe.

I just cannot believe how someone who swore that nothing could replace the love of pages and paper and ink would get hooked so fast.
